You’ll fail a few times

Before you actually change that deep rooted, harmful pattern of yours.

Self development drowns in stages. First we’re unaware of what is that really deprive us of being our best self. Then comes the acknowledgement of the pattern, followed by desire to change and implementing small changes. Yet we often think that if we’ve seen it and exercised in our brain the desired outcome we want, that we’ve have change the pattern itself. Until Life sends us another test and we fail it.

It hurts isn’t it? All that hard work behind the scenes, all the understanding and self observation to get on the stage of life experience and behave the same as you used to do all those years.

It might take a few times falling on your face until you learn to manage it or, depending how deep it is, find a way to actually switch it around.

Today I had another test and I failed. I feel deprived, angry and annoyed. I knew exactly what I had to do, the voice told me a few times. But I didn’t. Instead I did exactly what I used to do up to now. And I ended up feeling the same as I have tens of ways before.

Until next time, nasty pattern. Hopefully next time the result is in my favour.

You don't now all the possibilities, so chill out

And focus on your life, on your craft, on things you can control. It’s a human nature to want to predict and control all the situations. Yet the mighty force we call God, Universe, Life has it’s own measuring methods.

I know you want to know how and when, but if it won’t be so great if you know it. We get bored and look for the next new, exciting, unknown thing once we get what we want. That’s why they say the journey is more important and exciting that getting the price, achieving the goal ever is.

I’m not sure when and how this desire of mine to go try new things and make my dreams come true came to me, but I do know how many things I wanted badly and once I got them 1) it was kind of surreal (as usually we tent to have dreams that are so exciting because we never get them, or do something to get them), and 2) it was shortly after the price achieved that I was already on the look for the next. In fact, I used to (and still in a way) struggle to celebrate my achievements and enjoy them on the moment.

It’s amazing how Life works, how and when things get around in the most perfect way, which is most often than not, the least of all we expect to be.

If things are mean to get to you they will. You don’t have to look, chase, micro manage the work of the Universe. Go do your thing, work on what you want to achieve, and let it unfold in front of you.

Do you count days to your new year? What does approaching your birthday make you feel? Do you celebrate the rare opportunity of being alive or lightly sweep away your blessing?

So may people say “I don’t like to celebrate by birthday. It makes me feel XYZ. I ask why? Why do you neglect the most important day of your life, the one that you were born at the time you were born that gives you all the information you need to discover you who are and why you were send here for.

Birthdays might feel strange. I’m often more excited for others than for my own. However I believe we must celebrate the day. This could simply be acknowledged yourself being alive, passing another year under the sun, being able to experience all that you have experienced so far. Because getting older is not a toucher, it’s a blessing. It is an experience that many we know haven’t had. It’s a treasure we must take care of.

Yes, we had lives before and we will have more. But here and now the most important is the here and now, the percent moment, the life we live.

One month left until my next birthday. Reflection is already ongoing. About the part year, about the past me, and about who I am becoming.

Don’t take life lightly. Appreciate with gratitude every single moment of it.

Take more photos, thank me later

What is the first thing we reach towards when we want to bring back a record for a place, a situation, a state of being? What is the first thing we reach towards when we need to look into the past, the history, the memory of our life? What is the first thing we reach towards after we loose a person dear to us?

Photographs.

Use that smart phone in your pocket not only to screenshot information from the web or note something down. Create more meaningful photographs of yourself, your loved ones, the life you live. Yes, you do look good with messy hair and no make-up on, and no, the body weight is not a reason to deny your existence.

Take more meaningful photographs like we used to back in the days, before photography became the new pen and paper/sticky note/scrapbook pocket diary.

Take more meaningful photographs. Make a small summer album. Remember this time, it will never repeat again (for good or not).

The more you look, the better it gets

Photography as any other craft demands repetitions. In order to create beautiful and interesting photographs, you have to learn to learn to see. And by learning I mean practice looking at life from different perspectives constantly.

At some point it becomes a habit that nurture your craft and expands your vision. You don’t see life in the same way and cannot I see it anymore. You become the craftsman who will never be an amateur again.

I’m not fully sure if it’s a 100% a fair trade, but it’s definitely worth the ride.
