We like to touch

There is a reason we crave the physical representation of things, such as photographs, art, books… The experience we gain form form is something that the screens will never be able to provide us with.

Artefacts will never die because of this very fact - we like to touch with our skin, to see in person with out eyes, to have our body surrounded by. It’s a multidimensional experience that involves our senses, our emotions and our energy. That is irreplaceable.

Here comes the reason why we feels disconnected in a world with such fast, wide and immediate digital connection. It’s antinatural to our nature. Tools are great, innovation is awesome to have. However, what we need most remains the same - physically and energetically felt, part of a secure community to pay contribution and be acknowledged.

Fitting in is robbing you

from your authenticity and purpose. You’re different for a reason, not because you are no good.

Perhaps finding your own voice requires loosing yourself in the noises of others. As to appreciate the light we also must know the darkness.

And just like this all starts to make sense, to flow in the right direction. That which comes easier to you, what your heart desires to do is what you came here for.

Expressing your true self is not selfish, rather required. The imposter syndrome is just a mind game, not the real deal. Don’t eat your emotions, go throw them into creation instead. Their opinion doesn’t matter, materialising your ideas does.

Photographs are like wine

They need to settle down so you can truly reap the benefits.

Our mind is so accustomed to find the flaws by default, that many times it ruins the whole experience for us. Looking at a photograph straight after it has been taken will make you immediately criticise yourself, or diminish the importance of the moment/experience.

There’s something romantic in leaving some space, some time for things to settle in your mind between the moment and the outcome.

Perhaps is the nostalgia that the moment will never repeat, idealising all that it “was”. Although at the moment we most likely thought it’s not enough and spent the he present looking toward to a future where all will be “perfect”.

It’s the same with photography. I proofed it to myself, I hear it from clients too. “When we did the photo session I didn’t like my body. Now (a year ago) looking at the photographs I don’t think they were that bad and I actually like them more”. Aha… I told you so 😉

Don’t be so critical towards yourself or your body. It’s all a process. We are in a process of becoming. Life is a game, learning to play it well is by itself the whole game.

Don’t run, you can’t hide

From who you are, from what is meant for you.

Don’t try to please them, fulfil their dreams or meet their expectations. You’re not here to behave in any other way but authentically as yourself.

It might brings you sadness, sorrow even, when you see your loved ones “not getting you”. Give a tear and keep going. They can’t know what’s inside of you, so don’t expect them to.

You go do you and know you’re supported, guided, taken care of.

Always and forever.

Anxiety made me do it

Some of my best Fine Art works were done under anxiety attacks or breakups of some sort.

I go from dark, painful trips of overwhelming feelings and eyes tearing down until they can’t produce no more to turning towards my camera and record my bare soul.

In fact the lack of creation is partly what causes us anxiety. A Soul deprived of what it came here to do has to scream so loudly to be heard, acknowledged and taken seriously.

Because creation is essential for us. We came here to create in some shape or form. This creation of ours is the way to serve and contribute to the whole.

Anxiety comes as an alarm to inform you that you’re disconnected from your essence.

Art is a proven medicine always here for you.

P.S. This is my first self-care session from months. I confess, anxiety has been severe in my body. Last night was another tough trip, so today I finally gave myself my own medicine.

Photography has been helping me go through my darkest hours and then paint them with light. Successfully every time.
