Level Up or stay the same?

Last weekend I attended a 3-day business conference by the well known Spanish formation Level Up here in Barcelona. The topic was Reinicia tu Negocio and was full of content, talks, practical and educational tasks.

As a professional who is establishing their business and work in a new country and new language for a second time, going to a conference like this in the local language and participating, making contacts and enjoying the whole experience was super nurturing and beneficial for me. I liked the organisation, what they gifted to all of us, how they structured the blocks of talks, the inspiring guest speakers who were invited. As a whole I liked the experience and it surpassed my expectations.

In fact I went without much of expectations for this reason - to be able to take it all in as a student, as a newbie, as open and receptive as possible. Sometimes we block out own flow of benefits by having too much of or certain expectations. It’s much more beneficial if we see the world from the eyes of the beginner, like a child who is learning about everything around for a first time.

I’m happy I went and manage all the 3 full days of lectures and activities. It was an experience I was in fact looking for. I see why they’re on the level they are and I loved the passion and commitment they have towards their craft.

January was great, let’s see what February brings….

Here we are, after another workshop. Our busy digital life and desire to somehow get to do what we love and care about leads us to content creation despite the fact we like it to not.

So many professionals and service providers literally “need” to create content for their business, but might not have the technical tools or the budges to hire someone who can do it for them. This is the exact reason I decided to create this workshop to help them and make it easier. Content is not scary and it doen’t necessarily has to be perfectly polished to seat with. What is important is to market your business, be “out there” on social and show what you’re about.

Personal connection is more important than the most perfect photo or video, because your clients will connect with you first and then the product/business. This is especially important for small businesses. Once you got it going and with practice you’ll see how easier it hets ever time to create and publish the content. You can literally make every little this a reason to post and connect with your audience.

Don’t wait until things are perfect or you feel ready - this day will never come. Start now, start as you are, start scared - it’s ok, we’re all on the same boat even if we might upgrade to better seats.

How often is good to change your professional headshot?

Your professional headshot is often the first impression clients, collaborators, or potential employers have of you. Keeping it up to date ensures it accurately represents who you are and the image you want to project.

We live in a world where more people and potential clients see you first, daily or mostly online. Therefore the visuals that represent you, your brand and work work are crucial for connecting with your ideal clients and the success of your business.

There is not an exact timeline when you should update your headshot. Some people go years without doing it, but how often have you men a person that does not really look the same or younger as the photograph they use to represent them?

A good rule of thumb is to update your headshot every year or two. This timeframe allows for subtle changes in appearance, style, or professional branding to be reflected. However, there are a few instances when you should consider updating it sooner.

If you’ve made a significant change in your appearance, such as a new hairstyle, wearing glasses, or growing a beard, it’s a good idea to refresh your photo. Similarly, if your headshot no longer aligns with your industry or brand, for example, moving from a corporate to a creative role, it’s worth investing in a new one.

If you’re a person who is active on social media and use online marketing as one of your main promotional channels, who value their appearance and want to stay up to day and accurate with your followers and potential clients, a frequent headshot update is also required.
